Fresh Pressed: Trev Rich – “10”

10

On his birthday last month, Trev Rich celebrated by telling a piece of his story in appropriate list fashion, over Biggie’s “10 Crack Commandments” (mixed by Squizzy Taylor). It’s tough to even touch beats that were destroyed by legends, but Trev didn’t do half bad on this rendition. You make the call on Trev Rich – “10.”

Fresh Pressed: Trev Rich, The Soul Pros, Saint Joe, Strategy and more

fresh pressed

As with most weeks in Colorado hip-hop, here’s another good one. We got two projects, four videos, and a single, all of which are worthy of a play or two. Trev Rich – Rain In The Summer Much hype has been circulating this drop, now it’s here for everyone to enjoy. Check out this interview with Trev on AXS, then stream or download RITS. The Soul Pros – “Give A Poor Man A Break” This video is a winner all around. The track boasts smooth production and clean rhymes, the visuals highlight the single and are simply fun to watch. Filmed and edited by Mitchel Dumlao, this Colorado-centric, b-boy friendly video has the hip-hop lifestyle covered. RedDot – “Backpack Rappers” Here are the  first visuals off of RedDot, the project with the same name as the duo consisting of One Shot Dot and Iman S. The video shot by Clearview Films is pretty fun to watch, we like the play with color as ...

Fresh Pressed: Inkline, Trev Rich, Typhy and PTR

fresh pressed

This week we have less music than usual, but definitely some good stuff on here. We have a couple new visuals and singles. Enjoy.   Trev Rich – “They Say” The first video from Trev’s  forthcoming, Rain In The Summer, and it looks like quite the life. Inkline – “Gettin’ Out” From the album due out next month, Stones Cry, “Gettin’ Out,” which was produced by Es Nine, dropped one year after the emcee’s release and theorizes on the beauty of life that can only be appreciated from the perspective of being without it. Typhy – “Daylight” (DJ Paradox remix) The mellow single off of Typhy’s yet to be released project, Daylight got some smooth DJ Paradox treatment in this remix. PTR Mile High – “Arsonist Match” The creepy visuals for the PTR’s single off the album of the same name were handled by Live Life Films, and they absolutely match the nature of the track.

Fresh Pressed: Trev Rich, FL, AP, Tommy Brown, Soul City, A.V.I.U.S., and more

fresh pressed

Hot singles, a plethora of videos, and a mixtape for good measure. Happy Friday, kids.   Trev Rich – “The Worst” Trev Rich puts his own flip on Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst.” You know the drill by now; metaphors, storytelling, and rewind worthy punchlines. Press play, listen, repeat. FL ft. AP – “Cameras” Produced by Fortune, Lana Del Rey haunts the hook while FL and AP set the scene; a winner’s circle surrounded by mean mugs and winking piano keys. Rolphy – “Let Me Go” Clocking in at only 2 minutes long, Rolphy fills the song to the brim with interpersonal ruminations. Tommy Brown – “Tatted and Paid” Tried and true material with some dynamic visuals. A.V.I.U.S. – “Be My Lady” This one is a great beat coupled with classic storytelling, set against a textural, albeit one dimensional video. Clydesdale Entertainment – “WP4L” I mean…it’s weed. The Soul Pros ft. Felix Fast4wrd & Edo. G – “Greatness” The video is ...

revengeof the nerd

“Uh-Huhhhhhhhh!” Wake Up Drunk rapper, Pries, is back.  This time with a 19-track album titled Revenge of the Nerd, and he is back with a vengeance. Revenge of the Nerd dropped a little over a week ago on multiple sites and has already been downloaded over 11,000 times. This new project reflects his musical abilities while combining smooth, R&B vocals, precise beats, and a stylistic lyrical cadence. All of these facets making this release extremely difficult to pass up. Pries mixes a variety of tempos and styles to form a versatile sound that appeals to his fans. The emcee embodies Colorado new era hip-hop with his laid-back style with rugged undertones. He also features a few Colorado artists including, friend, and fellow Squizzy Gang artist, Trev Rich, on a track called “Wish You Would.” Of course, it wouldn’t be a Pries album without a couple of club bangers like “Pour Some More” and turn-up certified, “Willie Bandana.” Pries showcases his multifaceted style ...

Fresh Pressed: Myke Charles, Trev Rich, Blu, DJ Low Key, Ill Se7en and more

image

It’s Friday and we got some brand new stuff for you. A couple videos, a much anticipated mixtape, a single and a skate video, all worth a play or two. Myke Charles feat. Trev Rich – “Overdose” This video manages to be a perfect rap video while still including actual content and style. The narrative is as clean as the lines of the shots by Diego Ramos and the pair play off each other with authentic timing solidifying their need to work together often. Blu – Soul Amazing (mixed by DJ Low Key) This shit right here. The final mixtape in his series, Blu got DJ Low Key on the mix and it’s Soul Amazing. You can read all about it on OK Player, The Source and more, or you could just drop everything and listen to this right now. Fresh Pressed: Trev Rich, Myke Charles, Wheelchair Sports Camp, DJ Mu$a, and Lily Fangz

image

Nah. Too much good Colorado hip-hop crackin’ mid-week to let it all wait until Friday. It’s exclusively heavy hitters for you this Wednesday. Trev Rich – “Dark Horse”  Trev salvages the “Dark Horse” beat for everyone who lamented the fact that it was originally wasted on Juicy J’s elementary rhymes. “They ain’t kill this shit so I did, and I put that shit on my kids,” Trev begins. Let’s go then: Myke Charles – “Drunk In Love” Coincidentally, Myke Charles took on a different chart-topper the same day. Myke paints a low-lit, sexy picture with this one, but don’t get lost in the storytelling or that lyricism might go over your head. Listen close: Wheelchair Sports Camp – “Dance Off” Chris Bagley-directed and positively bubbling with funk and flash, the crew shows you how to mirror sound and visuals the right way with this one. Go ahead and try to sit still during it (spoiler alert: not possible). DJ Mu$a – ...

Trev Rich on Heights III

1536516_10200489331674525_1992369278_n

Trev Rich’s final installment of the Heights trilogy has finally arrived, and Denver is clamoring for its first listen. We chatted with Trev about this project, and what the finality of Heights will mean for him. What can your fans expect on Heights III in relation to the first two Heights projects? Growth. It’s a lot different than the last mixtape. I’m still making songs, still very lyrical, beat selection is kind of different and I focused on a lot more than just relationships. There’s ups and downs. From being broke to having money. From loving to hating. It’s a roller coaster. Don’t think too much about it, just enjoy it. What compelled you to create the Heights mixtapes in installments rather than as entirely separate works? My entire goal for the Heights Trilogy was to be as real as possible, and at the same time be cinematic. This is the last one so I had to finish it with ...
